Country Competition Divisions

If you've ever found yourself scratching your head when it comes to understanding the various divisions offered at country dance competitions, I’ve got you covered! In this guide, I'll break down the divisions offered by the United Country Western Dance Council (UCWDC) and the American Country Dance Association (ACDA). (And how they relate to each other.)

How to use the guide below:

  • The guide is best viewed on a desktop or in desktop mode on your browser.

  • The names of the divisions on a row correlate to the corresponding division in each circuit. (Newcomer 1 = Newcomer, All Stars = Elite)

  • If there is a dash (-) on a row, that means there is not an equivalent division offered by that circuit. (For example, UCWDC offers a Pearl age division for members 80 and up, but ACDA does not have an equivalent division. The highest age division ACDA has is Platinum, where members 70 and up can enter to compete against other members 70 and up.)
